One aggregated value per month. Best suited for inter-annual climate and hydrological comparisons.
Monthly data represents the aggregated value of all raw measurements within each calendar month. By reducing short-term variability, this level is well suited for detecting inter-annual trends and long-term climatological patterns. The aggregation method depends on the variable type: mean for continuous variables, sum for cumulative variables, and extreme value (max/min) where applicable.
